Insecurity

in CCC3 days ago

Good evening, everyone.

I just decided to share a little something as I've been trying to keep my mind off some things for a while.

Just a week or two ago, I was buried in thoughts after hearing about the death of a little kid who lived close by. It was said that his whole body was swollen. I guess it was elephantiasis or tuberculosis, but I'm not a doctor so I can't say for sure. Still, the news of his death struck me hard. My landlady's grandson explained it to me, telling me the boy was his friend from school.

Later on, I heard news of insecurity from different places. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the kid (the landlady's grandson) when he had to watch a video showing teachers being brutally sliced with a cutlass right in front of children younger than him. He began to question me: why would they still do such a thing when the teachers had promised to give them any amount of money as long as their lives were spared? I just had to tell him that some people have made evil their lifestyle and don't have a conscience. Him asking was unexpected as I thought he actually came to watch a movie on my phone or something 😩.

The issue of security in my nation is now becoming a huge problem. Even people are scared to walk at night. The recent kidnappings of people traveling by vehicle in Ibadan and other locations have also left people afraid to travel. My mind even goes to when I will be traveling back to Lagos after my exams next month. My hope is in God for safety, but still, I couldn't help but worry at some point: "What has become of my country?"

Most people have even begun to consider the possibility of herdsmen and Boko Haram causing a civil war, although I don't really read the news and don't know what to think. We all are still hoping that no matter what happens, no harm will come to our homes.

Have a nice day, guys.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

We have become inhumane. It's sad to hear about the death. I hope you are feeling okay. I guess we should be hopeful in some way or another, even though things look grim.

😔I not sure how I'm feeling but I'll be fine.
At situations like this, we are only left to hope things get better but still the future feel blurred.

Yes, it feels quite difficult, especially in African and Asian regions. Global dynamics play a huge role. On top of that, oil prices and the fact that people cannot meet their expenses due to regular incomes, inflation, as well as the spike in commodity prices due to the war, have made everything quite expensive.

I guess there is a clear view that at some point things will get better.
Do not be worried and do not fall into cycles of thinking that everything is doom.

I guess I worry too much
Thanks for talking it out with me.
I should shift my attention back on to the bright side.
